Brent Hinds (Mastodon) guitar rig

Brent Hinds is the guitarist/singer for metal band Mastodon. His guitar gear is made up of a lot of standard items you'd expect to find in a metal players kit.

Guitar wise Hinds primarily uses a Gibson Flying V, SG,Les Paul and Gibson Explorer. He also has a signature model by First Act. In a majority of live performances Hinds uses a variety of Gibson Flying V's.

In the "Tune Ups" section of the October 2007 issue of Guitar World magazine, Hinds and fellow guitarist Bill Kelliher are said to play the lead/melody/harmony and main riffs respectively.

They are also said to use three core tunings D Standard (E standard down one whole step, D G C F A D), Drop C tuning (Drop D tuning down one whole step, C G C F A D), and a third tuning similar to Drop C, but with the low E string tuned down to A (A G C F A D).

Amplifier wise, Hinds has featured in the Marshall magazine as a JMP 2203 player.
